Vancouver, BC new casino opening
Cascades Casino Delta, a brand-new establishment that will be run by Canadian gambling operator Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, is scheduled to launch on Thursday, September 29, 2022. The investment of CAD 99 million ($74.5 million) will contain 160,000 square feet of entertainment area in Ladner, which is located immediately to the north of the junction where Highway 99 and Highway 17A meet in Delta, British Columbia.
A press release stated that the celebrations for the grand opening will begin on September 29 at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the day, with the main ceremony scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m.
"Gateway is proud to invest over $99 million in Delta and bring up to 600 new employees to the community," said CEO Tony Santo, describing the casino as "a significant addition to the local economy and entertainment landscape of Delta."
The gaming part of the casino will be about 40,000 square feet and will have 500 slot machines and 18 live table games. The breakdown of what types of table games is not yet available.
Advantage players, including card counters, eagerly await the opening, as skilled patrons always do in search of new venues at which to ply their trade. Gateway does not offer worthwhile opportunities often, but has done so at various properties from time to time.
In addition, there will be a variety of eating and culinary options available at the resort, including a full-service buffet. In addition to that, there will be a place for gatherings and events. The connected Delta by Marriott hotel will include 124 rooms in addition to a day spa, a resort-style outdoor pool and hot tub, a fitness center, and parking with specific spaces reserved for electric vehicles.
During this period, the firm is continuing the process of hiring new employees at its South Delta location. Gateway stated that “the priority is to create a strong team to operate the gaming floor and manage the new food & beverage offerings."
The Cascades Casino Delta has openings in a variety of departments for those interested in working there. Recruitment efforts are now under way for slot attendants, dealer supervisors, and dealers for the casino. Targets also include representatives of guest services and supervisors of such employees.
In addition to security officers, cashiers, members of the count team, and supervisors, it is looking for various food-service workers.
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation granted its final clearance for the building of the casino in November of 2018, which was to be constructed on the site of the old Delta Town & Country Inn. The development timetable at the time envisaged an opening somewhere around the middle of 2020, but was delayed by the worldwide pandemic.
Within its portfolio, Gateway employs around 7,000 employees and offers about 334 table games, 13,555 slot machines, 91 food and beverage outlets, and 561 hotel rooms. In addition, Gateway boasts a total of 13,555 hotel rooms. In the province of British Columbia, Gateway manages casinos under the Cascades name in Langley, Kamloops, and Penticton.
