"It dosen't explain how TMan's post can disappear entirely, clean as a whistle, in to thin air."
Who gives a shit? And what does this have to do with blackjack?

I think the person who deleted the thread was not a regular post buster but had technical powers and used a software instrument akin to self-deletion.
From my experience of watching others self-delete their posts, if they delete the post before someone else responds to it, there is no "deleted by poster" displayed.
If, however, they delete their post after someone has responded, the "deleted by poster" is displayed. This seems to be the case even if the response post has already been deleted by whomever. Confusing, eh?
You might want to do some test posts to determine if this is correct if it is that important to you.
Since neither of my posts had been responded to, no "deleted by poster" tag was displayed.
Main point is that I do not think the lack of a "deleted by poster" tag for my posts had any intentional significance.
By the way, please note that I never engaged in any argument and never made any derogatory comments. I took the high road. I plan to continue to do so.
Without any criticism to RGE, I would like to ask you this question, Sun Runner, since you are a regular there. VN made a post about a new RGE for the new year. In it, he said that RGE was going to become smaller and leaner. He signed it V & B. I noticed that no mention was made of Parker. There have been no posts by Parker on the site since the end of last year. Is he gone?
Things change, and as I said, no criticism, and no insult - I'm just curious.
> .. please note that I never engaged in any argument and never made any derogatory comments.
I thought your response to KS was on point and worthwhile and even though it has been common knowledge for quite some time, WCs using your proper name was out of line.
> You might want to do some test posts to determine if this is correct if it is that important to you.
It was important enough to me to ask twice. Having received no answer, that will be answer enough. Your post was treated differently. Before it was deleted, it had been responded to. But once deleted, it did disappear, unlike the others.
Regarding RGE, I'm not privy to their business plan anymore than you are.
Regarding Parker, I'm not privy to why he has not posted recently anymore than I know why you virtually quit posting at 'blackjackforum' about a year ago.
Take care.

I'm sorry and I don't wish to offend, but I am very confident that neither of my posts received a reply post. As you can see though, I did some experiments. Here is what I found:
I posted "test one" directly under your post.
I then posted "test two" directly under "test one".
I then deleted "test one". The top "message deleted by poster" remains from "test one".
I then deleted "test two". Nothing remains from "test two" because it had not received a response.
I then posted "test three" under your post.
I then posted "test four" under "test three", and deleted "test four". Nothing remains of "test four".
I then deleted "test three". The bottom "message deleted by poster" remains from "test three" because it had a response even though that response was pre-deleted.
By the way, "message deleted by poster" does not appear on Greenchip, only on the free page. I noticed how it works by observing another poster who used to frequently self delete his posts. I actually doubt that even the administration here even knew all of the subleties of this feature. That's probably why you didn't get an answer.

Fair enough. Actually, I do post every once in a while on the Members Only pages of blackjackforumonline. I remain good friends with Arnold and Radar. Those pages are pretty devoted to their topics, and I have been too busy with other endeavors to make a solid contribution.
I'm writing a technical book (non-blackjack) and I'm the production manager of a company making electronics products and batteries for the U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Strangely enough, this weekend, I'm writing a procedure for a commercial company in Iran.
Then there's my other hobby. I've got almost $10K invested in my canoe. I can bake a two layer cake, make homemade ice cream, and run my stereo, cell phone, and laptop for a week long canoe and camping trip with those military batteries:

Maybe soon, I'll get back to some solid blackjack playing.

I'm sure it's my diminishing mental capacities.
:)
Take care.

I thought I had answered the question in my post Friday afternoon. I apologize for not addressing that part your question in my original answer. I simply overlooked that part of your question. I did not deliberately ignore it.
I did not see your follow-up until this morning. It happens to be a three-day holiday weekend. I do not monitor the free pages 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and don't expect anyone else to do so either.
I have no idea whether or not the post you said disappear(ed) entirely, clean as a whistle, into thin air had responses to it or not. But in studying the way the software works after re-reading your original question, I have learned that that if Postbusters delete a thread or sub-thread from the "bottom up," the erroneous Message Deleted by Poster does not appear. Instead, the post "disappears into thin air."
What, exactly, does this mean?
I thought my previous reply would suffice...but I will explain, anyway.
When I said "I feel a presence to leave" it deals with heat, more people coming into my game, maybe getting tired, getting sick, getting low blood sugar where I have to eat NOW, etc. It could be a "number" of reasons. All of these have happened to me before, and I would think they would have also happened to most other players, as well.
I would have thought what I wrote would have been pretty clear to most.

PM
Do you assume that players are entitled to just up and leave without prior consultation?! What are you, some kinda anarchist!?
Well, lookee here, sonny, the Department of Homeland Security is pretty soon gonna be perusing your dossier. And you're gonna be hearing more about this pronto. Yessiree, Bob!! You gots plenty splainin' to do!! But you'll spill. They's always do, once we gets'em on an unmarked charter jet to Renditionland.
[ I know this is unfair to ad hoc, but he really does have a robust sense of humor. I hope. ]
I read your posts, and call me crazy, they made sense to me. I was beginning to wonder if you were being deposed. :-) Must be that cyberspace translation thing.
You know how it is when you're retired, maybe the senility is moving in a bit too quickly. :-)
Looking forward to the next visit...it'll be a while, I don't do chains or snow tires!

My name is ROBERT, not Bob.

Why would anyone invest $10K in a canoe? I mean if you're just so loaded and don't know what to do with your money is one thing, but I'm sure I'm missing something here. I'm sure you have a logical reason.
Again, I'm not knocking it, just not privy to your thoughts...and if they're personal, I understand.

"I would have thought what I wrote would have been pretty clear to most."
Adhoc knew. What you wrote was clear. You did exactly what he wanted you to do. Take the high road and just ignore him next time. He's really a lot smarter than he appears. Espccially since he uses big words like "officious".
Ten K ain't that much.
Lots of people spend many, many times as much on large outboards, and sailing boats. Some spend $600 or more to fill gas tanks for a single weekend cruise.
Some people spend tons of money on things they can just look at. "Ace Tracker" (We had a 'name the canoe contest' on the Social & Humor page last year.) is a vehicle for vacationing and exploring scenic waterways.
I love taking canoeing and camping trips that last several days. I took a 56 mile trip last summer, and I have my eye on a 300 mile trip, hilly fast streams, coastal waterways, and black water like the Okeefenokee Swamp for 2007.
I like to get away from civilization, yet eat and drink well, remain comfortable and clean, and have lots of fun. I'm not a pussy who can't handle primitive camping and can't keep from tipping over in six inches of water.
On the third night of a four day trip a while back, we were eating fresh baked lasagna and pizza, drinking Valpolicella, and watching a DVD of a Jack Nicholson movie on the laptop.
I have a special advantage for this endeavor. The batteries I am in charge of manufacturing only weigh about six pounds and can power all my electrical equipment for a week. The problem for everybody else is that they cost about $300 apiece, they are not rechargeable, and even though they have a shelf life of two years, they die within a few weeks once they are removed from their packaging even if they are not used.
I, on the otherhand, have access to any batteries that do not quite meet specification. I currently have seven new batteries in their packages.
I pulled up along side a fisherman last fall who was having trouble lighting his cigar in the wind. You should have seen his face when I produced a hot automobile cigarette lighter.
With the AC power converter I have, I can even run a blender.
I designed this canoe. The longer a canoe is, the faster. Notice how she is tucked in around the back (stern) seat. I'm sitting directly over the water on each side with a bent angle paddle so that the blade stays verticle through the whole stroke. She is nineteen feet long, has sliding bucket seats and hardwood trim; yet, she weighs less than 50 pounds. Her sleek design with her polished gel-coat over kevlar makes her extremely fast and maneuverable. With those huge ice chests and plenty of room for duffel bags, she has enormous capacity and secondary stability.
My grandson loves to ride in her.
Titaniumgirl looks fantastic in a bikini. Those two ice chests are three feet long each. What other canoe has a six foot long platform to place an air mattress for a bathing beauty?
Trust me, I could keep going on.
I'm getting my money's worth.
I will dispute one thing with you, though..."Ten K ain't that much."
For me and a canoe it is! :)

PM
