Do not waste your time by driving to Harrah's Cherokee. This place is a total sewer, and the worst excuse for a casino I've ever seen. It is rife with slot machines and chain smokers. Yes, they have "live" blackjack, but only the dealers are live, the game is a video version of blackjack, and the system automatically shuffles at the 50% point. Nobody can beat this game. Your best bet if near this place is to continue over the Smokies to Gatlinburg, or visit Cade's Cove.

You should join Green Chip, cheapest place to interface with players who have "been there" and will provide you a wealth of information that is non-existent in any book you can buy. Additionally, you will have access to the Archives, which will also provide you with a plethora of good stuff. Many GC members will assist you with answers to even the most basic of questions you might have.

Above all, BELIEVE THIS...you will get your ass handed to you from time to time in a casino, be prepared for this, it happens to all of us. You will not be exempt from this experience, it's part of the game. It ain't fun and you won't like it, but the pain passes quickly. You will know when this is happening, no matter what you do, you will get stiff after stiff, or bust after bust. Take a break, take a walk, get some fresh air...don't just sit there and have the casino hammer you.

I am a retired accountant....always good and quick with numbers with excellent concentration. I play BJ once a year when I cruise so I am truly a novice.. This past week I returned from a Carnival trip.
They must have had CSM because I never saw the dealer touch the cards or do a cut. It was a black box with a green light...I was told 6 decks.
I had no strategy at all..knew one existed but never bothered to learn. I bet $5-10 on each play. I play by intuition or feel.
I'm at one table and getting hammered...as was everybody. I pick up my chips and move one table to the right. I always stand in the middle when I play. Gives me a good view of the table. Anyways, I start getting 20, 19 20, BJ etc.. and start getting some great hits.
The guy to the left of me who knows strategy is getting crappy cards and losing his shirt. I walk away up $150 (not bad for $5 bets) cash in and never play again.
The point is that it was my time to win in that position. If I sat one place to the left I would have been wiped out. These are the intangibles than cannot be factored.. I guess you just call it bad or good luck.
I know in the long run you need to work with the probablities.

Nice win on the boat, knowing when to walk away is key to success in this game.

Do the Green Chip thing, it'll improve your game significantly.

There are some people that find the exposure of truth very painful and embarrassing.

It's really better that you not inquire further into this, it is an old issue that someone simply can't let go.

Happened to me just last nite. A "Great" game, (you know I'm talking about) got stiff after stiff. Won only 2 minimum bets and lost all the rest, an effort in futility, for sure. I did as you said...I quit, but I went home for the nite!

Ah, another day...time to get back to work.

to the post busters, can't you guys just erase that whole ugly missing string or at least be upfront and post messages saying 'post deleted by admin.'

The way the software is presently configured, the Postbusters do not have access to the administrative tool that allows posts to be busted without leaving behind the messages that remained on the board. I removed those erroneous messages.

We will look into the feasibility of modifying the software so this doesn't happen in the future. But we bust very few posts, so the expenditure of time to correct it may not be warranted. I usually see busted posts and promptly remove the erroneous messages. In this case, it apparently happened during the nighttime hours. I was away from my computer, and didn't see it until this morning.

I am new to the forum and cannot figure how to obtain WC's email addy so that I can connect with him and his Kennesaw buddy.
I know I am committing a cardinal sin but I will put forth my email in hope that WC will contact me

more than your share of stiffs. Do I have this correct? You felt that by leaving and coming back another day, it will somehow have an effect on the quality of cards you will receive. Have I stated your position correctly?

That great game has time limits...those limits were made and I left. I play short sessions for obvious reasons and when I leave it is NOT because I was winning, losing, or anything else. It is either the time factor expired or I felt a presence to leave. In this case, I had played my time and it was my last session of he day and I simply went home. I was just reiterating that those games come to all of us and noone is immune of having really bad sessions.
