I do not see how that could be the case. He would have to spend a minimum of three days attending lectures and seminars each week, and then Chicago is not exactly right next to Las Vegas. To use an analogy-it would be like my attending college in London and jetting off to Romania to play blackjack- its just unrealistic to say how you could possibly do that on anything like that on a professional level.

In addition, James was obviously playing a commendably full part in the life of his university. At maximum, he could have got in about 25% of the hours a full-time pro would put in.

After he obtained post-graduate status, he probably would have had more freedom, but its still difficult for me to see how he could have played anything like as much as many GC pro's resident in Nevada, let alone an online gambler who can easily clock 12 hours each day.

Maybe I am mis-reading your post, but it sounds to me like you are accusing James of hypocrisy. I think you need stronger evidence that than before accusing somebody of hypocrisy.

This post was a response to the suggestion that James has more experience than me. I do not see how that could be possible with reference to the facts. Apart from anything else, he's too young. It would be like me saying I had played more than Don Schlesinger, just obviously not true.

Regarding hypocrisy, yes, I think its valid. He was very explicit in criticizing Wong and Blackwood and me for their lack of high-stakes play, in addition to slurring GC'ers (including you) in general. Even with Wong, who is an all-round advantage player periodically diverted to the study and practice of several different advantage play disciplines, its difficult to see how James could have clocked significantly more hours since attaining adulthood.

Regarding your "darksider" comments, some individuals may command respectable salaries, but one thing I think James would actually agree with me on is that you can make a hell of a lot more money from advantage play than almost anything else.

I basically agreed with his critique of Blackwood. I would have stated the criticism in �kinder and gentler� terms, but the substance of James� arguments was basically correct.

This is a unambiguous statement: I know enough. Students at US universities are generally required to attend those institutions. That is a serious drain on your time.

As much as you may like or admire James, your comments simply do not make any sense when measured against the facts. I suspect you are continuing this argument out of loyalty to someone you respect, which is a noble thing, however I think you are going too far with information which can easily be contradicted by the available evidence.

A final point: you were and are very critical about the creation of the craps page and its connection with "dice-controllers". I am not completely unsympathetic to your scepticism, but your position is inconsistent with your stance on Grosjean, who heavily promoted a physical prediction system for the Big Six. I tested it: it doesn't work. No one except James I know of, ever claimed to have got it to work. Craps has a house edge of less than 1% if you make the right bets, the house edge for the wheel is usually double-digit. It seems to me that the rules of critical analysis are suspended when someone with a mathematical and academic background promotes some unworkable voodoo system.

I'm not going to get into the whole discussion here, except to agree that I think you don't know as much as you think concerning JG. Your timeline is wrong, as well as part of the facts you have stated.

I didn't say you can't beat the wheel, I said James's system doesn't work. By implication your post suggests the need to incorporate an additional psychological element into any prediction system (I would go much further than you have), which James doesn't cover.

I didn't invent anything. I read BC, went on a casino trip, and used his system to beat the wheel. A few times. He mentions the importance of the psychological elements as well. His system works. Everything in that book works. The same thing can not be said for several other gambling books on the market.

Regarding Big Six, the problem to find good dealers is as much a function of the games being closed most of the time or the casinos no longer even offering the game. If there were two to four big six wheels in every casino (like there are 3CP games) finding exploitable games would be much easier.

I notice you and Math Boy appear to be contradicting each other. Does the method require additional knowledge not obtained in the text or not? This isn't clear.

What I found in testing was that, occassionally, dealers tightened up after a win or a near win, and would actually spin away from the target sector. You can have a disadvantage of <50% when this happens. It doesn't have to happen much to wipe out your edge, and is difficult to avoid without seriously compromising the number of trials you can actually get in.

That said, I'm not completely hostile to this concept. However, it appears to me that a double-standard is being applied to physical prediction methods, due to the personal connections or lack thereof of the system promoter. No one ever asked James for, and he never provided, any statistically significant proof from his results at the tables. Yet, you are demanding the same proof from the dice control crowd.

What have you done? I googled you too. I knew you wrote books and I forgot just how enlightening, informative, educating, full of imagination and awe inspiring they were. Seems you have had dealings with Frank "Golden" Scoblete, nice. Talk about the darkside, but I digress. Please just answer one of my questions? What have you done to help any advantage or "ploppy" player win the money? After having done the google thing I see that there may be a bit of jealousy and competition (in your mind) between you and JG. If that is the case write more informative and imaginative books. Break new ground. One more thing nice pictures John. Get'em off your website(s?) so not everyone knows what you look like. Since you gamble almost exclusively on line that would hardly effect you though would it. Two final thoughts. You can not recall "the last day I did not place a wager". There is 800 number for this problem. Please answer the question. What benefit have your writings done for anyone other than self validate your own ego. Lay off the pudding.

Is JG in jail TM?

Must have him mixed up with some offshore sportsbook dude that broke the wire laws. Similar names perhaps.

The picture on the front of that issue was about his arrest when he spent Easter weekend of 2001 in the Clark County jail.

He had been hole card playing at Caesars with a partner who had been previously caught marking cards. Since he refused to give his real name, he was held through the holiday weekend.

This was the reason he sued Caesars. The story is in that issue, hence the cover art.

My understanding is that his partner had just been accused of marking cards, and was/is listed in Griffin with the accusation. But he was not "caught," and the accusation may be false.

As I said, the story is in that issue of BJF. I'm at work, but I'll check when I get home.
