I'd much rather play BJ than poker too, mainly because I'm much better at it. Without checking, I believe this thread started because someone wrote that BJ is dead or dying. I think it's dying and will be dead at some time when the casinos use chips that can track the bet size with the count. However, I still think there are many playable games around in the US and I will continue playing BJ. I've only played poker in a casino twice, one win and one loss. I probably shouldn't have won when I did but I was playing with $100 from BJ that I didn't care about losing. (I know, purists, that's wasted EV and a cardinal sin.)
I think BJ is boring too even if you see every hand. I guess double exposure BJ is great for you since you get to see all the cards for a longer time period.
There's also senseless, mindless chatter in BJ too. People blame me for losing when I switch the number of hands I'm playing or double A-7 vs. dealer's 6.
Poker is better than BJ because you don't have to worry about getting kicked out. I still think f you are a good player, you should be able to do very well and the long run in poker can't be as long as the long run in BJ.

On the relative few (maybe 14) times I played poker, I always felt like I was 'guessing' far more than I feel like I am 'guessing' with Blackjack counting. I don't think I was ever going to be much of a poker player, but at least I can stay in front with BJ, and without the killer stares from mob hoods wannabees or other psychos.

just because you (and I) aren't willing to put in the same time and effort to improve our skills in poker that we did in BJ, doesn't mean the future (overall) of BJ is better than it is in poker. You and others describe this terrible atmosphere in poker (which I haven't noticed in my two times playing), but I reiterate that the atmosphere at the BJ tables isn't so great either. The bottom line is that we all have to make our own decisions and live with consequences. May all your blackjacks be at maximum bets, the dealer actually busts at plus 5, you don't get two aces when you split aces, you win all of your insurance bets, you make the right calls when hitting or not hitting your 16's against a 10 and 12's vs, 2,3, etc, (I'm sure you use BS deviations since you are such a pro), and the idiot in front of you with a $25 bet doesn't cause you to lose a $300 double down because he hits his 16 vs. a dealer's 6.

AC is not totally smoke free until October of this year.
