Why wont this work

Green chip bettor. I play four hours in your casino today and rathole two green chips per hour or $200 total. I win $1,000, but you mark me down as a $800 winner. Tomorrow, I play four more hours, and rathole another $200, but loose $1,000, but you mark me down as a $1200 looser. So I am even for the two days but in your records, I lost $400 for a house advantage on my play of $50 per hour.
Win big or small, loose, big or small, it does not matter, two chips per hour will skew that lifetime record and never cause those poor pit types to make a single extra fill. Never a need to be obvious.

I got the idea that Richard thinks we are hiding chips just like eating potato chips. A handful here, a handful there. I don't want to clink when I walk. I don't want my pants to fall off because my belt can't hold up the waid of all those chips. Etc. :)

When I play red, I will occasionally ramp up to 40-50 bucks in a SD/DD game. I'll get paid off with green on occasion, sometimes even black. One or two an hour (green or black) is more than enough, and I'm not going to sit at the table for 3-4 straight hours playing anyway...

The need to do fills slows down the game. One of the few things that we (the APs) and the casinos see eye-to-eye on is that Faster is Better.

If a table runs low on lower denomination chips, play can continue, but the dealers have to be constantly coloring people up, or converting color on the payoffs.

If a table runs low on high-denomination chips, it can shut down the whole game. There is nothing worse than having a stack of blacks out, splitting and doubling, and then have the dealer have insufficient chips to make the pay-off.

If you are getting to ready to leave a table, pay attention the chips left in the tray. If there is an abundance of chips of your color, then they won�t mind if you don�t color up. In fact, sometimes I ask the dealer �you don�t need me to color up?� This is when the pit boss is over at another table flirting with some player, and it will take a long time to get color3ed.

OTOH, if the table running low on chips you will get on the bad side of your dealer and the pit by walking off without coloring.

We got to a POINT! Thats what I've been trying to say. Rathole a couple of chips here and there.

There was never any distinction between how much you should be pocketing. I kept saying really no more than 10 chips per session, and that can be too many sometimes. I was never against stashing chips, but was trying to say not to get carried away. Finally two posts that make sense.

Exactly. Sometimes the floor CANT do a fill because the chips are in someones pocket and if they do a fill then the chips may come back out and overflow the game. So while tons of chips are disappearing that no one can put their finger on, the floor can't do anything about it until they know where those chips are.

At the very least, check out the rack and if you're on a 5-20 dollar game, color up your red. 25-100 game, color up your green.

Anyway, good points on that post. Constructive answers/solutions instead of bitching like some other posts. Wow we're batting 1000 this evening.

is that no one ratholes _more_ than a couple of chips here and there. As I said, I don't want to clink when I walk, nor have my clothes hanging like I have a lead bar in my pocket or something. And since I don't "tombstone" a pit/table, the chip "loss" is going to be very minimal. That was bigplayer's point as well... Somehow we were just not on the same page.

Not too many people really have pride in their jobs when dealing with the general public.
That is the problem with people like this. Service jobs require them to interact with the public & they should have the "people skills" to do the job properly.
Get over the attitude & have some pride or get out.

we've exhausted this for now.... but I don't remember anyone ever saying any kind of range to rathole. Maybe someone said vague phrases like "a lot", or "don't do too much", etc.... This needs to be a little more specific than that. We are almost on the same page, but sometimes I see huge discussions and argument and no one is giving real examples or solutions. Just take a look at "Isn't this part of their jobs" a few posts above. Nothing constructive there, just a poster whining about the truth.

Now, I must say that in the casino I work at, there are no comps for losses at all. So, some of my views on stashing away chips are because it doesn't matter at all in my casino. You won't get another dime more if you lose $100 or $10,000, they go by avg bet and time (Our most recent example is $20hr/avg bet = $1 comp -- this has changed though). Many casinos are going this way too. You must use your player card and self-comp your buffets and such. As far as plane tickets, hotel rooms, and other situations that may require a host, these ammeneties are slowly being phased out as well(not altogether but you'll see changes), and could disappear in the not-so-distant future. Remember 3:2 single deck blackjack. Look at what happened to that. Casinos are beginning to start to look a lot less at real customer service (while that's still their cover), and more at the bottom line, which will never be big enough. It's really the sad truth. Oh sure, they'll always be a few casinos out there that will offer these things, but you'll have to seek them out.

Remember that nothing is impossible with greedy casinos.

I disagree about your Nothing constructive there comment. But do agree that it is the thuth that the employees need to have some pride in their work. No whining about work! If you are going to do a job, do it right.

I have frequently seen references to "rathole your EV." That's fairly specific. For example, I play a lot of DD spreading $5 to $40, my EV is about $20 per hour when I am doing that. A green per hour makes me look like a "break even" player. Two greens an hour makes me look like a small loser..

Of course there are exceptions. Every now and then I have one of those sessions where everything goes right and I'll win 100X my usual EV, and that is basically impossible to hide. By the same token, I'll have a session where I lose that much as well...

I believe in one of my posts I did give some sort of number, two chips per hour on the average. Playing green with an EV of around $50, I pocket my EV, if the situation is favorable sometimes a little more.

You also speak about ratholing for comps. Never gave that much thought and at most places, it is not even worth thinking about. Perhaps to a whale, but they will know every chip he cashes anyway. It is not about comps at all. The purpose of ratholing is longevity.
Counters with good acts in casinos with a tolerant attitude (for a casino) will and do get backed off based upon lifetime win/loss.
So you rathole in the place you go back to often. Since you go there often you probably use a players card to fit in with everyone else who goes there regularly. Your wins and losses are tied to that players card and the ratholing is a slow but sure way to take a lifetime win and make it a loss in the casinos eyes. No need to hide your big wins or big losses, you really can not anyway. Just move every win slightly to the negative and every loss a little further to the negative.
