just curious to see how you made the obsevation that most casinos use shuffling machines. This is not what I see at the various venues I've played at. This include Mississippi gulf coast, Tunica, Vegas, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, Casino Niagra, Elko, Wendover...need more?

Just keep leaving those shoes at TC=+2 with 1/2 deck before the cut card because you have lost the last few hands and the big cards *might* all be behind the cut card, and the casino will be having duck dinner on you.
Oh, and if you think the games in Vegas are anything like the really poor games in Gulfport, I guess that just shows your <*>excellent<*> observational skills.
Of course, I have only been to Vegas about 30 times since the last time you have been there in '99, so what the hell could I possibly know about it? Just keep those 'bad' players to your left - you know how to win.

I posted that in another post in this thread.
However, one factor which is probably at work here is the fact that I do not play during the "busy" or "tourist" seasons. There are just too many novices screwing up the games at these times. Going back to *experience*, I find it difficult/impossible to win under those conditions.
My last trip was in May, and the Gulfport Grand had exactly six tables open in the morning hours -- one in the "VIP" pit, and 5 on the main floor. Two tables on the main floor were DD, and the rest were all 6D. ALL of these tables had auto shufflers.
The conditions were similar at the Beau Rivage and the Biloxi Grand -- ALL *open* tables had auto shufflers.
...sure must be skewed.
Otherwise, how could I keep on beating them so regularly and consistently?

The ONLY casino where I'm a net loser down there is the @#$%*@# IP. Don't know what it is about that place, but I just can't do anything there.
However, to keep the record straight, there was *one* trip where my table winnings did not cover my travel costs. In that one case, I considered myself damned fortunate to be able to battle back from being down quite a bit (thanks to the @#$%&*@ IP) to a net win of all of $2.50 -- and damned glad to get out of town with *any* win.
Take off your blinders and admit there's more to this game than just keeping, betting and playing the count.
I haven't played blackjack in quite a while, but when I was playing in Colorado, to casinos, The Isle of Capri and the Lodge, were using a machine called a "Pro shuffler". I don't know who manufactures it. With this machine, half the shoe is put in one side, half in the other, and rubber rollers feed cards from the two stacks into a center stack. This machine basicly just does a coarse, single riffle of the entire shoe. Very trackable. Unfortunately this is Colorado $5 max blackjack (or $5 multi-action for the high rollers), so who really cares? I don't know if these machines are used anywhere but Colorado, but if they are, they are very exploitable. These machines are generally pieces of junk. They jam or frequently, and apparently run on nicad batteries, which frequently run down before closing time, forcing the table to revert to hand shuffling. When I was playing, the Lodge was running the cards through twice, so the trackability wasn't that great, but the Isle was only running them through once.
