Mine is taking insurance when the count dictates to do it but my hand is terrible, e.g. hard 16. It pains me to lose the insurance and then have to play a low probability hand against a dealer's Ace. I use KO Blackjack, a basic count for which insurance is taken with a +3 count.
Say something like, "I can't win my hand, so I'd rather bet on yours."

It's even more fun when late surrender is available and you know you're going to surrender that 16 if you lose the insurance bet.
My variation on Don's strategy: When that happens, I say something like "I hope you have it. Then I get out of playing a bad hand."
Then, I might follow that with, "The last time I had it, they gave me penicillin and promised not to tell my mother."
Say something like, "I can't win my hand, so I'd rather bet on yours."
