A kid catches some fleas and puts them in a bottle. With the cap on the fleas trying to escape continually hit their heads on the cover. After thorough conditioning the fleas avoid hitting their heads and stop just short of the cover in their future jumping. One day the kid removes the cap and the fleas now have the potential for unlimited progress. Unfortunately, their past history and mindest only lets them jump to the height they have become accustomed to and they never escape. So went the Red Sox for 86 years. They became the product of their own limited thinking--UNTIL TONIGHT! Now the Red Sox will feel unemcumbered to win again next year as they realize now what they took so many wasted years learning--the cap was never on!
