Take insurance! Put your money out on the insurance bar, and make that bet at +3. If they say "even money" you can forget about it. Tell them you don't want no stinking even money, you want to take insurance!
Here is the analysis.
Even money for suited BJ paying 2-1:
You bet $10, you stand to win $20.
If you take even money, then your EV is +$10 per suited BJ against the dealer's A.
If you don't take even money, then roughly 4/13 of the time you will push the $10, but 9/13 of the time you will win $20 (suited pays 2/1).
Thus, you will win (on average) per suited BJ:
20*(9/13) = $13.85.
Thus, taking even money costs you 38.5 cents on the dollar in this case (38.5%). There is no index that can make up for a 38% deficit.
