The movie should center around the adventure's & mis-adventure's of Ken Uston.
And the "Counting System" should be 1 of KU's, since he is pretty much responsible for the state of BJ that it's in today.
I know KU tried to have a movie about him made back in his day.

"Croupier" actually touches on card counting in a couple of scenes. For example, during his job "interview," the title character must demonstrate his ability to count. Also some good scenes in general of ENHC BJ play, for those unfamiliar with it. A good film all around with some good casino scenes.

Re: ADA. It seems to me that he would first have to show that his disability affects his ability to play on a level field. As I recall from Rainman, as an idiot savant, his agility with numbers was actually an advantage, not a handicap.

I vaguely remember an old movie about a scientist who
develops an experimental vision treatment. Of course
he foolishly experiments on himself and discovers his
newfound X-ray vision to be a hefty curse. In any event, there is one scene where he goes to a casino,
sits down at a crowded table and starts instructing other players not to hit because he can read the hidden
cards and knows the dealer will bust. He causes quite a commotion and is quickly expelled by casino security. Can say I remember the title of the movie, though it was entertaining...
..there was quite a lot of blackjack in it. A very fine film too. I especially enjoyed the dealer's (the croupier)antithetical attitude towards everything "gaming". Nothing like a dealer who's main enjoyment is watching the punter's lose, his nirvana at the end reaching a kind of blissful state where he can will the player's to lose! :)
As an aside, I also learned something by watching the film. "Croupier" is pronounced CROO-PEE-ER in English casinos. Is it also pronounced that way in American casinos? I'd always assumed the French CROO-PYAY was the only correct pronunciation.

It never ceases to amaze me that this idea is very common among real-life blackjack dealers. I've heard several different dealers say things like:
"We switched to 6-decks because there's no way for card counters to count 6 decks."
or
(Jokingly) "Hey, if you think you can count 6 decks, go for it."
Not BJ but great storyline: Nicolas Cage drinking himself to death... Elizabeth Shue as the hooker with the heart of gold. Grab your favorite mind-altering substance and enjoy!
That is part of the Rainman myth, that nobody can count down a Shoe. But the other part of myth is that card-counting is easy money. Win without fluctuations. Like going to an ATM machine.
That image permeates casino personnel, and possibly the public as well. That image is both incorrect, and harmful to us.
BTW, the statement about Shoe is not that off-base. It is harder to beat a Shoe game than a pitch game, and that is why casinos offer them.
Come to think of it, parker, how often do you play Shoes.
... with Steve Mc Queen and Edward G. Robinson is by far the best film about gambling I have seen up to now. It's about Poker and I don't think there is something comparable in quality for BJ.
May be it's better like that.

When I re-read this post this morning, the last line came across as a cheap shot. It was intended that way, and I'm sorry if it came off that way.
What I was trying to say: I think that you, yourself, play primarily pitch games, and void Shoes. I mention this as an example that most counters prefer double deck and single deck games. Hence the casinos are more relaxed about Shoes.
If they see someone varying their bets at a double deck game, they immediately think "possible dangerous counter." They do not respond that way at Shoes, for good reason.
