Anyone scavengering with any success? I do it primarily on surrender because they are most frequent. The edge is massive; I've been told as high as 68%.
What is scavengering?
Glad you asked. Scavengers offer to buy other players' action when doing so provides an edge. Such as double downs and splits. Grosjean talks about it in his book "Beyond Counting". It has to be done with a good degree of discretion so you avoid drawing unwarranted heat from the pit.
So you surrender other people's hands and lose 50% and you think that is a brilliant AP move? I guess that's better than your cover play of hitting your soft 20's and 21's.
I don't surrender anything. I merely buy their hands for half price and then have them play out the hand.

player plays it out and thinks he gets the winning or the original bet back after you have bought the surrender?
I don't see many players take surrender so I have not seen many opportuntities for that but I have seen many opportunties to double down for another player but have only done it a few times. I am always worried about collecting the money in the event of a win.
I understand your paranoia but the trick is to develop a friendly relationship with the person first while making an accurate assessment of of their honesty quotient. Doing that, I have never worried about being stiffed on the winning bet.
