I'm pretty new at blackjack. I started about 4 years ago. I play at local Indian casinos and also in Vegas. I am an imperfect counter, mostly because I enjoy all the conversations around me. I continually improve at counting. I've read just about every book written on blackjack, so I'm fairly familiar with most of the basics.
I guess what is surprising to me, is the complete lack of heat I've experienced anywhere.
I'm thinking it's probably because of several things, maybe my age 61, my playing in high limit rooms, and my fluid conversations with pit bosses and dealers.
I also sit with Don's strategy card in front of me with my glasses next to it, and refer to it from time to time.
I'll do minimum bets, whatever they are 25,50,100 then when the count gets good, I'll bet anywhere from $75-2000. Multiple $250-500 bets are common for me. I win most times. Usually $3000-5000 during a 2 night hotel stay. Lost $5000 a couple weeks ago when I was tired, with a friend and in a hurry.
I usually receive full hotel and some food comps.
I guess after all the reading I did I expected A LOT of or at least SOME heat with my crazy widely variation of bets.
