Playing time

Hi all,

It's been a while. . . I was just wondering if anyone had run sims on playing for just 45 mins - 1 hour versus shufflemasters alternating decks. Rules 6D H17 Dac Das re-split A up to 4 times, only 1 place has surrender. Usually I play longer, since I'm a low roller, I get no heat to speak of.

Wondering if limiting playing time will help.

Help with what? I say the more time, the more cash in the bank. Play whatever is comfortable with you.

Thanks for the response. To answer your question, "with what?" Here are my thoughts that evoked the question.

I have read in one source to look for tables with happy players and other favorable clues. From the boards it appears most professional players do not play for more than an hour at one casino. I've also been advised that if a count goes to -2, (TC=<-2) to not approach that table again the same day. I am not sure if the latter advice was based on shuffling or shuffle machines. So I mentioned the places I play at use shufflemasters, hoping for some shuffle trackers thoughts on that account. Finally, I'm not sure if the latter advice is any more than superstition, or if it has a solid basis.

Logic seems to agree with your reply, but my gut seems to tell me the other may be better. I didn't learn to count because I rely on my gut, so I thought it best to ask here.

Ibeatyouraces, I give your reply full consideration. . .

Ideally, you should be looking for tables with NO other players. The happy players sounds like nonsense from Jerry Patterson's totally discredited, phony "TARGET" system.

Ignore advice and books by the following hucksters:

You will eliminate almost every table in the world every day. This "advice" is utter nonsense.

Ideally, you should be looking for tables with NO other players.

Except if you are a back-counter/wonger. Often though, SD and DD do not allow for mid-deck entry. Multi-deck usually does. In a situation allowing mid-deck entry, especially games with multi decks, it makes sense to back-count the play of one person before jumping in at +1 or better. However, I would say on average, you would be best served on DD and SD one on one.

Ideally, if you could back-count all games until they went positive, then jump in and have the table all to yourself during that shuffle, that would be best. :-)

Back-counting and bouncing in an out of play can bring you heat if not done properly.

I've decided to shorten my sessions. The only way I was comfortable playing for so long was by playing all. One can only go to the bathroom so many times and I'm not one for monologue phone calls. . . This will definately improve my EV. Thanks Bomber.

Thanks for pointing out the hucksters LVBear. I will continue to ignore their guidance. Wish I could just delete erroneous info from my brain but your advice will help keep me on the right track.

I am certain the shorter sessions will help. Ian Anderson's article on 'When to End a Session,' makes perfect sense.

My brain won, btw, as it always does when it comes to BJ.

Sure you can. It all depends on how much coke,pepsi,water, etc you drink. The week bladder routine works wonders in this situation. I usually play 6+ hours in any given day and never had an issue over this.

BTW, just came back from a weekend of "work" and again I thank them for their hospitality ;)
