Playing Strategy in BJFB

In the chapter on basic strategy in Blackjack For Blood rules variations are listed for DAS on single and multiple decks. Does anyone know whether these rules are applied on the +6 strategy or the -6 strategy. Im almost certain you would not apply splitting variations on say a single deck with -6 count. What I am not sure of is if you would apply these splitting rule variations for single and multiple decks with a +6 or greater count where doubling after splitting is permitted. Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Basic strategy is just that; it does not account for adjustments made from counting strategy. To find the count numbers that you are looking for, later in the book he details charts based on strategy deviations at certain counts.

The key is that there is no +6 or -6 basic stategy per say. There is only basic stategy and then strategy adjustment charts that tell you at what point to deviate from basic strategy based on the count.

For Bryce's system, the charts are in the book. For other systems or to calculate different games or rules, invest in a blackjack simulator.

My question is on the +6 and -6 strategies in chapter 5. If you remember, in the chapter on basic strategy there are rules variations for both multiple deck and single deck where rules allow you to double after splitting. The rules variations for single deck basic strategy is split 7,7 against 2-8, 6,6 against 2-7, 4,4 against 4,5, and 6, 3,3 against 2-7, and split 2,2 against 2-7. My question is would you apply these variations to the +6 strategy when the count is positive? This would allow for more splitting and would make since to me. It seems to me that the +6 strategy is designed (just like the basic strategy charts) for games where the rules do not allow doubling after splitting. So when the rules do allow for this then would you apply the rules variations to the +6 strategy also?

My gut hunch is that you would. I attempted to put your question into PBA to see if it is correct but I need more information. If I'm understanding you correctly, it is a single deck game with DAS allowed and you are looking for strategy at a +6 count and higher, correct?

I also need the count values that you are using in your system. I know the AOII values if that is the system. If it is a different system, please specify what count values you are using and I can run the strategy table for you.

I am using the basic Omega II count but the values are the same as the advanced. I used a single deck with DAS as an example. If the rules variations for splitting are applied then it would be the same for a multiple deck with +6 count or higher except that the variations would not call for as much splitting as in a single deck. The splitting variations are listed in the chapter on basic strategy.
It is not specified if these rules are applied in the +6 strategy.

if you were to apply the variations listed in the chapter on basic strategy then in a single deck game with DAS you would split more often. This seems reasonable in a + count. If DAS was not allowed then you would go directly by the +6 strategy chart. If you were in a multiple deck with DAS with the count +6 or higher then you would apply the variations for multiple deck. All of this is what I would like confirmed because it is not mentioned in the book BJFB.
