You hear all kinds of garbage from financial "advisors" who have a stake in what they promote.
One author stated that when all the aces are present and if the dealer received even a single ace in his cards, whether the it was a blackjack, face up, face down, or hit his hand and received it, that the chances of the dealer busting was only 8%. If the aces was not present then the busting rate was around 40% depending on the upcard.
This guy claimed that despite the clear advantage of 1.5 your winnings when you receive a bj, you should bet less when you know that there is a surpluss of aces. Is this strange or what?

If a "unit" is your typical low bet then it's easy to lose hundreds of units in any bad shoe. You should talk about swings in terms of numbers of max bets lost not units. A unit is not your low bet...your low bet should be a fraction of a unit. Your unit is what you'd bet at each 0.5% of advantage. What fraction of a unit you bet when the house has the advantage depends on the type of game you are playing.
Nobody gets creamed because they lost a bunch of 1 unit bets. They get creamed because they lost a bunch of max bets.
