Blackjack Attack
I've read Stanford Wong's Blackjack Secrets many times and pretty much have in memorized. I'm looking to expand/improve my skills. What are some other books you would recommend for doing some more advanced techniques (I'd like to build on what I learned in Blackjack Secrets rather than learn a whole new system). Like, I guess, books on shuffle tracking or something like that.
Blackjack Attack by Don Schlesinger is available. I've not yet read the newly released third edition, but I am very familiar with the second one. You probably want to become really familiar with this book before learning other techniques like shuffle tracking.
This book does not teach a counting system. Instead it's about the best way to apply this knowledge. The second edition was a collection of various articles Don has written over the past decade or so for the now defunct Blackjack Forum, plus some recent annotations. Among the subjects covered are:
Backcounting
Risk of ruin
Team play
Illustrious 18
Cost of cover plays
Optimal betting
SCORE - method of comparing of different counting systems and table conditions
Floating advantage
Optimal shoe departure points
Risk aversion
If it's improtant, I'm 22 and have been counting for about a year and play for chump change in Atlantic City (8 deck shoes, no surrender, etc, etc).
Blackjack attack will show you why Atlantic City games are really bad, but also the best way to play them, namely avoid playing during negative counts.
Thanks for your help!
Your welcome.
