When someone tells you they are winning every week, take that with a grain of salt. A lot of people conceal losses because they feel it conveys a weakness about their game. That guy may be just such a case.
There are people who make 1500 a week doing this, but that is usually the result of averaging your gains.
I would never expect my bankroll to grow consistently each week. IOW, I don't believe that I will have more money at the end of this week because of counting. I know it takes longer than that.
Finally, an excerpt from Mr. Wong's "Professional Blackjack", page 200:
"Unfortunately, most of the time you seem to be losing. According to mathematician Peter Griffin, at most 1.6% of the time your present hand puts you at a new all-time high. The other 98.4% or more of your playing time, your current bankroll is lower than it was at some time in the past."
Do not despair over this fact. To put it another way, let's say you start with $10,000 bankroll. In a matter of days, you turn that into $30,000. This would be an all-time high. However, your good fortune starts to descend to only $20,000. Some people may see this as having lost $10,000; but you should see it as being ahead of your starting bankroll by $10,000. You are no longer at an all-time high, but you are still winning nevertheless.
Furthermore, you should not take money from your winnings to pay for other things until you feel that you have covered your ROR, and have no desire to increase your level of action. Once you reach that point, you should only take out enough that your ROR is still at a level that you are comfortable with.
