Just curious
When Snyder was contemplating publishing James's first book (BC) he sent me a manuscript for my review and opinion. Arnold didn't really understand the depth of scholarship or what he was really holding in his hand at that time. Meanwhile, at that very moment, James was sitting ... in jail! :-)
At my urging, Snyder went ahead and published the book, and my blurb was prominently featured on the back cover, as I was the only other person who had read the work at the time of publication. That's why the only two blurbs on that first edition are Arnold's and mine.
Anyway, after publication, I painstakingly (as I always do) went through the entire book, after Snyder sent me a copy, and made voluminous notes, comments, edits, corrections, etc. And then I conveyed all of them to James for incorporation in a potential subsequent second printing of the book.
So, I have that copy sitting on my bookshelf, in pristine condition, with all of my personally hand-written annotations (in ink) in it. Just wonder (especially if I also signed it somewhere) how much THAT copy would fetch! :-)
Don
P.S. I have no interest in selling it. Just curious, because I don't follow any of these pricings.
