dealer replies
In my experience dealer replies are a true case of "consider the source". Some have no idea of the ins and outs of the game, just deal, many do not know the why of different procedures, just that they are required.
Two good recent examples:
Playing green, I go from three to six chips and hear checks play. 10 minutes later I go from three green to two black and hear nothing. This happened several times, so I guessed that checks play to this dealer was based upon the size of your stack and not the amount you bet.
Last time in Vegas, said to a dealer who I knew for years, that 6/5 is a horrid game and I would never play it. Her reply, it really does not matter because you do not get that many naturals anyway. Broke it down for her that with an average bet of $100 and 5 naturals per hour, she would be charging me an extra $150 per hour for the seat and if I played 20 hours it would cost me $3,000. Her reply, "it's only 1 1/2 bets per hour"
What I would love to have is an off property candid conversation with the pit boss about Mind Play, but that is unlikely. Now some dealers really do understand but they also understand that complete honesty with you at the table would cost them dearly. In that situation, for their personal survival, they will take the I do not know or I just work here attitude.
