check in CBJN, what is your threshold for what makes a good game?
Let's say the deck penetration is average. What House Edge do you see and think you can beat the game?
-0.50%? -0.40%?
Broad question, b/c there are a lot of variables. What House Edge gets you excited?
Penetration is what gets me excited, assuming I can get the spread I need to make a decent win rate. The rules are important, but not what gets me going, so long as it's not 6:5.

For sure, penetration can be a key factor. Weak penetration quickly makes a game less enticing. So many of the big edges are at the back end of the shoe.

You need +2 tc to have an edge in a game showing .5 house edge in cbjn. Start there and look right to be sure it's not csm and that it is 80% pen for shoes or deeper than 1 for dd. Then keep looking for other factors.
What gets me excited is an excellent early true count. Hope I spelled it right.
I enjoyed reading Burning The Tables In Las Vegas by Ian Andersen. I find the entire book fun to read and very valuable to advantage players-but what he has to say regarding penetration is valuable beyond belief.
recently that was just over 1 cut off. It was miserable. Count would spike, dealer would shuffle.
You don't know how to play DD without the preferential shuffle ups. There is a way but no one but a fool is likely to post it on an open discussion board.
