It's hard to imagine them shutting down as long as there's the possibility of a dollar to be taken from perhaps either some die hard local or a passing member of the news media. Anyone know what the Gulf Coast casinos are doing?
in the area. In 2002 the casinos really didn't want to close when a minor hurricane hit near Grand Isle LA, but the Gaming Commission forced them to. Guess what, storm surge swept a van from the New Palace parking lot into the back bay and Treasure Bay was damaged so severely that they had to close for several weeks.
Now the casinos don't question anything...they just close when they are told to.
Sept 11, 2001. That's only because they were forced to. Grand Victoria stays open no matter what. We had a bad snowstorm back in 2000 and every other casino in the Chicago area closed except for ours. Employees were not cited if they couldn't make it because of the storm but stayed open. There were 110 patrons that showed up all night. If there's money involved, casinos, or any business for that matter does not want to close despite the circumstances.
