Gambling disorders/ sad stories

While in casinos I've heard of the following sad stories. They are surely signs of gambling disorders:

1) Gambling 72 hours straight without sleeping, & quitting only after $zero cash on hand,

2) Losing her husband due to heartattack, thereafter losing all her life insurance proceed in the amount of $1,000,000 to casinos (her husband probably would turn over his grave),

3) Losing his rent money frequently, getting evicted from his apartment, & thereafter living in his car with a wife & 3 kids,

4) Gambling in a casino for weeks, calling in sick, & relying on her husband to take care of her 8 year old kid at home,

5) Failing to honor $800,000 in markers, & Losing her 3 busineses & a home to casinos,

6) Jumping off AC Hilton's parking deck to his death after gambling there for 3 decades.

Now let's see if you guys can top some of the above stories. If you do, let's us read all about them please.

ever here of Art Slichter (sp?). Very sad story. Actually lots of sad stories rolled into one. I haven't done it, but you can google him. Super star with big money potential pissed away by trying to win what I guess would have been a much smaller sum.

I guess the moral is to earn as much as possible and only risk a few percent. This guy just had an illness. Too bad his own college coach helped light the fire.

Another one I just saw in WSJ re political hopeful treasurers running off with the candidates' booty. One OH politician's treasurer lost $600,000 over 10 years. Even sadder, he lost it to IN river boat casinos. I'm guessing he still has no clue what BS is. What even this slighlty AP could have done with that bankroll!! How much fun he could have had and by stealing a whole lot less.

All of these type stories are ultimately not funny, though. It's an illness. I'm sure many of us walk a fine line. Is it a sickness to just think about and read these cites when you hardly even get to play!? Is it time used wisely? Hmmmm!

One had a 6 figure salary and living in his car due to gambling losses. He was still working his job and living in his car the last I heard.

Another I know blew his entire life savings (over a million bucks) in two years and ended up losing his house and getting divorced after more then 20 years of marriage.

Billy is one of the most educated guy (PhD degree in politics & Law degree from Havard), but he does not want to educate himself with cardcounting skills. He would lose millions of dollars in Las Vegas. Hey there are college dropouts who become professional card counters. Why can't Doctor Billy become an AP? Go figure!

In addition to Schlichter, Leonard Tose was another football guy who had $40 millions gambling problem. Tose was evicted from his home after losing all his money to casinos ($40~50 mils). He beat his gambling problem only when he died broke in a Philly hospice facility.

By the way, a casino floorperson loves to use Tose's story to warn his "friends" with his question: "If a $40 million dollars man can not beat casinos, how can you?"

to not have any dependents. I am gulity of #1. I have slept in my car freezing my ass. I have had trouble paying off bills too.

I can relate but in a different way.

My brother and I went out after the fams went to sleep and played some 21. We were on vacation together. We came back, after my 1st and only "barring", to a dead bolted hotel door. Somebody, a wife maybe, bolted the door. Not sure if they did it on accident or if they thought we'd knock at 3/4 am, so they could know how late we stayed out! We tried sleeping in the mini van which was impossible. We laugh about it now and I know that's not what you're talking about, but I hope you're not sick and that you can have some occassional fun with the game versus it consuming you.
