It's a start
You seem to comprehend what I'm saying - I don't know why others are having problems.
Tipping is only a a part of what I do, and a relatively small part at that. The whole idea is that dealers and pit critters at places I play on a regular basis are glad to see me.
This starts with choosing the right dealer. Certainly, not all dealers are receptive to (relatively small) tokes - I choose the ones that are.
I'm always polite, and never get mad at the dealer when he/she makes 5 card 21, etc. In fact, if another player is getting upset with the dealer, I sometimes will quietly remind that player that the dealer is not doing it on purpose. I try to do this when the PB is within earshot. Sometimes, I will even point out a dealer mistake that was in my favor.
If the dealer (or PB) is having a rough day, I provide a sympathetic ear. One time a female dealer got so wrapped up in telling me about her problems with her boyfriend that I had to keep reminding her to shuffle, or she would have run out of cards. I was easily getting 90% + pen.
There is much more, but I think you get the idea, and I don't want to compromise my identity.
I spend many hours at blackjack tables. It is much more pleasant when everyone is laughing and having a good time, not to mention more profitable.
