Decreasing Comps at MGM Because of Wins

Are comps decreasing to the point of being almost non-existent? On my last trip to the MGM properties, I had 6 hours of play and $300 average bets, but I have received no comp offers. I did have wins on the last two trips that totaled a little more than $10,000. Does MGM not send out offers if you win even if you have decent size play? Also, it seems that express comps are earned at the rate of a few dollars per hour, which is pretty minimal for that size of play.

Comps at MGM severely penalized if show a win. Carefully rathole away 2x your EV so that you lose what you're expected to lose most of the time. $300 to $500 per hour played should do the trick.

I have a friend who works in the pit of one of the MGM properties, not MGM itself, who told me that different players, playing the same action get rated differently and earn different comps, and points accordingly.

In other words, three players all play the same action and time.

Player A, a poor player, who plays some basic strategy, but doesn't hit some of his stiffs vs dealer 10's, nor his 12's vs 2 or 3, nor A-7 vs dealer ten.

Player B is perfect basic strategy player.

Player C suspected of being AP.

Player A will earn much more comps for the same action, Player B, less, and player C even less or maybe none bat all.

There are some paces in Vegas, And MGM stores are among them, that reduced comps and offers or maybe none at all, is the first sign of trouble. It is pre-backoff heat, so to speak. I suspect that is what you are experiencing. Should additional heat follow, it may be time to give up playing rated and the benefits of doing so.

just curious. many years ago before my MGM cards were all blacklisted, I was playing at Mandelay Bay. 6 deck s17 with surrender. I did not play very long and did not detect any heat on that session. I was betting up to about $400 and then lowered bet to $25 table min when count turned negative. I hit a 13 vs 2 and distinclty remember the pb pulling the paper rating slip and writing something on my ticket. Was it most likely:
a) bad player, does not even know bs
b) potential card counter (no way Pb would know count)
c) or just rerating my avg bet from $100 os so to 25.

But, you do realize that you would have been much better off walking away rather than betting the $25 and making a departure like that.

If a $0 bet falls on a betting circle in a negative count shoe does it make a sound?

As Don suggests, table hopping sometimes can reduce heat rather than increase it if it makes your apparent bet spread seem smaller. Especially if you are tactful in your table departures.

I was playing at a strip casino. The Pb and dealer liked me and I was a bit down. The Pb said he would count for me and tell me what to do. So he took out a paper pad and started writing down the counts, and told me when to raise my bets. Actually that hurt me more than help me; I was a bit hesitant to play the index. I left when I was a bit up.

In your case, rather than going from $400 to $25 I would have left when the count has gone south.

Why don't some of you experts come to where I am? We could earn some. Nobody would know. I' in an oasis by myself.

there may be some aps closer than you think
