Large bets make it feel that way...
Actual my experience is slightly different because it takes a 2k loss in a 12 hour period to get me 'depressed' or at least downtrodden. There is little way to avoid getting emotionally involved whent the "goal" is to win money. Just sleep well knowing you did everything you could. I personally can't get over this emotional threshold of real money idea either, no matter how good/bad I am financed at the time I feel bad losing what could pay a month of bills in a single session. I lose a few K and sometimes I want to go get a steak or watch a ballgame or something. It is my personal emotional threshold that is keeping me from betting up to the next level. Basically I sweat my own action at these higher levels.
There were and still are times when my bets are nearing the 5% ROR bet structure that do worry me after a bad day. Of course most days I bet small.
However with this being said I feel much better betting less so maybe I get those nightmare shoes and just don't feel it as much. I am probably betting less than I should so the losses and wins are really easy to take in stride.
They do happen, but if you play enough which it appears you do, you will probably realize that even long losing streaks don't last for months. With a SD of $500 per hour maybe lately I have dodged some bullets but all in all I credit it to many hours of table time. Often times after having these shoes from hell (which seem to bother me less and less), I walk into a cash cow and grind a little back.
A lot of times when you think you are having a really bad shoe it is just that you have really big bets. It only takes a surplus of 5 or 6 max bets lost in one of these shoes to hit your 2-3 negative SD mark in an hour of play.
Yeah I know how it feels, I have managed to ride a BR high though for th last few months, so I guess I am not the best one to comment on how to deal with the "blackjack gone bad" episodes. But it might be the actual bets and not the raw performance hand for hand that get ya down. If the bad luck swing happened at small bets which it does alot you might be out 50 bucks on a 'count go nowhere' shoe.
Cutter (redchipping forever maybe, whatever we don't sweat!)
