have been using synders red 7 count but have a ques. on deck penetration (6 deck shoe). if a dealers cut card leaves app 2 decks that wont be dealt, would it be prudent to start my count at -10 (4deck), or at -12 (6 deck)? it would seem that only 4 decks should be considered. probably wrong but any and all help is appreciated
Shoes games require LS and a minimum of 75% pen. So if 4 decks are chopped, are you gonna traet the game as a double decker with 100% pen? Of course not.
didnt mean 4 decks were chopped, just a little less than 2. would be playing with about 4 decks (out of a 6 deck shoe). but i think i see your point. if i go into a 6 deck shoe (with decent pene.)......just because approx. 4 decks are in play doesnt mean i need my count to start at -8 (i wrongly stated -10 on initial post). is this correct......thanks for your reply

usually. Furthermore, your count tells you the general makeup of all cards unseen.
If your count skyrockets, how do you know that the advantage lies in the decks unseen but only up to the cut card? If it is possible for some of the advantage, i.e., high cards to be behind the cut card, you need to average your count to include those cards.
Otherwise, you will be overestimating your dis/advantage for the cards you do expect to see.
