Many people do not live up to the casinos expectations when staying on a comp. These people will then find it hard or damn near impossible to get comped there again soon in the near future.
Then the next time you are in town and not staying in house X on a comp, by all means play there and earn your comp for your next trip.
One good example would be MGM and NYNY. NYNY comps are easier to come by but their games are not as good as MGM. However my play at MGM will earn me quicker and easier comps across the bridge at NYNY. I frequently get flyers from NYNY despite hardly ever giving them any action. I stay in a comped room sometimes RFB and just walk across the bridge and play at MGM. When I return home a flyer soon follows for another trip.
