After a several year hiatus, I am returning to the game in AC. Previously, as I did not want to be noticed, I never tried to get comps. However, I am considering it this time. Is it worth getting Casino cards and trying to get comps or is it counter productive (pardon the pun)?
I consider my comps as part of my winnings. It's money that I dont have to spend on food while at the casino, and the free room every week helps me to put in more hours as well. (less travel time) If you sense a problem down the road (like you are drawing more attention because because at some point you were determined to be an AP and such was marked on your account) then you can always stop using it. Until that happens and it may not depending on level of play and frequency, Accept everything they offer.
I use player's cards in a couple of places only. The rest of them I play without a card. I find when I play anon, I'm much more willing to spread big when appropriate, etc.
If you're asked by a floor why you don't want to be rated tell them:
a: you get audited every year and don't need another paper trail
b: you go to Gambler's Anonymous and don't want them to find out
I like mentioning GA at the table. The floor usually runs at the name and leaves you alone.
