House ADVANTAGE = Player DISADVANTAGE
See, this is why I knew I'd need to be finicky here
The "odds bet" doesn't dilute the overall advantage... It dilutes the overall disadvantage.
It's pretty obvious I mean the *HOUSE* advantage, in this case.
The player, even with 50 times odds, is still exposed to a house advantage.
Apparently you knew exactly what I meant, you used the term in the exact same sense I did in your very next sentence! Well done.
The odds bet CAN'T be made without the original Pass or Don't Pass bet being made. Consequently, the odds bet can only decrease the house edge -- not produce a break-even situation.
Look, I'm sure you know exactly what I mean. The "Pass Line Bet" consists of two parts: The "Line Bet" and the "Odds Bet". The EV on the Line Bet is -1.4%. The EV on the ODDS bet is 0%. The more odds you are allowed to take, the more that your 0% odds bet dilutes the -1.4% of your line bet, thus lowering the OVERALL EV on the *WHOLE* Pass Line Bet.
Make sense?
