Best Vegas Strip casinos for low stakes counting?

I used to be a pretty serious card counter, playing on average 2-3 times per month from 1996-2000 (I was a green chip member back then). Then I got married and had kids, and no longer had the time or money to play. Anyway, I'm a New Yorker and am going to have the rare opportunity to be in Vegas for a weekend next month. Even though I play so rarely these days (only twice in the past 10 years!), I still enjoy the experience of playing at even a tiny advantage, and it is more fun to play a game with relatively good penetration, giving more opportunities to have the thrill of playing at higher counts.

My playing budget is small - I'm hoping for $5 min, but being the weekend am prepared for possibly having to play at $10 or $15 tables. Also I'm going to be limited to playing on the Strip, because I'll be with a friend who I know likes to stick to the Strip when he goes to LV. I would appreciate any info on where the better low-stakes Strip games are these days.

I suggest you buy a single copy of the Current Blackjack News for $15 on this website. I get one before each of my semi-annual trips to Vegas.

Going to LV on the weekend and looking for good conditions at low stakes is ridiculous fantasizing.

Take a cab downtown and play El Cortez and check out the conditions at SD at 4 Q's and the DD at the Nugget.

I think you will find conditions have deteriorated a lot for since 1996-2000. That is when I started and there were lots of S17 low stakes ($10 min) dd. Most of the strip has converted to h17 except the higher limit tables. A lot of the low dollar real bj has been replaced with low dollar 6:5 bj and csms.

I don't think you will find any 5$ real bj on strip on weekend. Might be able to find some $10 6 deck with good rules and decent pen and wong in and out. That would be best way to play with advantage with small bankroll.

The downtown suggestion is a good one also. lower limits there.

If you are only going to be making one trip and playing very little luck (variance) more than anything will determine if you win or lose. I suggest looking at the free sample of CBJN offered on this site to get an idea of table limits. CBJN changes very little from month to month and the free sample is quite recent being Jan 2014.

You might want to try Palace Station casino. They have a free shuttle that goes back and forth from the stip, plus they are right on the bus route.

Even though they say the shuttle is for guests only they will let anybody ride it. I don't know if this has changed since I was there, but there were no questions aked if I was a guest or not and never had to show a room key.
