Best cover when for playing for comps...

When your hungry and tired and don't really want to attract bad attention or possibly lose a lot of money when all you want to do is sleep.

I personally, only have one casino per city that I have a players card. So when I am tired or hungry, I like to play a break even game or a little more with an flat bet of $50 when the pc's are not looking and $100-150 when they are at two hands at a time and about 3 hours which translate to about 400 hands.

How do other people like to play when they have comps?
Is it better to have more than one card or not. I think not.

Just trying to "lose less?" Why? Seems a bit like compulsive gambling to me.

Over the years I've noticed I do much better playing hungry; and do lousy playing right after I've eaten.

I think hungry keeps your senses keener and your brain working better.

but there is a point where hunger turns to headache and upset stomach. When you do go to eat, your body may reject the food because it's stressed. Typically, I'm running from one place to another and don't stop to eat much or often. Add little sleep and it's a bad set up. I experience the headache and stomach issues much of my trip time. A good filling boofay can fuel you for a long time if you eat the right stuff.

Beef jerkey is all protein and you don't have to eat much to get a energy boost. It's full of salt and cholesterol but just eat a chunk between sessions. You'll still be hungry but at least you'll have some energy. Drink lots of water but maybe not always at the table. It's a bit of a tell.

If you see a guy at the tables chewing on a hunk of beef jerky and chugging water, move on. He's certainly an AP.

You are not playing a break even game with a flat bet. Your average bet is about $183.00. Your disadvantage will be roughly -.05%. x 400 hands is about a -EV of $366.00. You could use that expected loss and pay for your own food, etc. instead of trying to get the comps for it. Maybe save some money. You could also use that extra 3 hours to get a nap and go play for real thereby increasing your expected win further. Sometimes just playing for comps is not always the best decision especially when tired. You will have to do the math.

Everyone that watches me play will tell you otherwise. Dont know what it is I guess I just feel the cards better than most and use more strategy deviations at the right times. Think what you want but my play speaks for itself. And I am about tired of coming on here and having to answer post like this... so people that doubt me yes they get not so nice responses. I have worked hard at my game somedays even night and day, to perfect it and when someone comes on here and doubts or ridicules my game. I am going to smile count my money and retaliate. and retaliate. And be nasty. Wouldn't you feel the same if no one was believing you around every corner dispite the truth...Like I have told people on coutless occasions and been told...I defy the math I am about done with all this bullshit fricken nerds and need to stick to the math. I think I am just going to stay in comped rooms and count my money and chips.

The comp game only lasts so long. Sooner than later it ends if your seen as a threat to the casino. I think it's easy for people to over play just for comps. Playing for comps is often like a death wish.

I've seen players bring it to the pits attention that they have a "big bet" out and instruct the pit to make sure there getting the big bet recorded just for the comps. And then to watch how stupid they play the casinos should be giving them the penthouse suite.

They refuse to believe anybody can win with basic strategy and getting a feel for the cards. Especially in an ASM you can get a sense of when the good cards are coming. Combined with BS and counting (but not strictly betting due to count!) and I have done very well playing like that, better than I have with straight counting.

Sure, maybe I won't do as well in the long run that way.

But is anybody here going to reach the long run? Nope...

Let them be know it alls. And keep winning. It makes the pocket protector crowd cry every time somebody wins not playing "their" way.

There is more that goes to whether or not you have an advantage than the count, that is for sure. Blind faith in the count, without shuffle tracking, observing how the cards or going, or any other tactic is a high variance, low edge game, one that is not for me.

I have been away from this site for a while and when I read the posts from blackjack-tornado and thebobpuller I get the impression that the compulsive gamblers (or trolls?) have taken over in the meantime.
Why would nobody ever get to the long run?
I see: Your argument is that since we cannot get into the long run anyway we don't have to watch our ev ,so card counting is useless.
But for your information, the long run comes sooner than you think,especially the way you play.
I would say it's roughly 1000 hours or 100'000 hands. That's easily reached in 2 years. If your still in the red figures after that, you should ask yourself questions.
As for me I have just played 10'000 hours and made over a million bucks ...by simple straight counting and without watching the flow of the cards!

Ignoring them is, IMHO, the best way to make them go away.

and is the weakest form of AP. If you've made a million dollars you either had a ridiculous bank to start with, or you got real lucky.

Shuffle tracking, pattern recognition, sequencing, and other forms of AP are more reliable, someone with your skills and capital would have surely made more than $1M using these. The tiny edge afforded by card counting puts it in realm of still gambling IMHO.

If I use Wall Street terms, CC is the weakest legal way to gain "inside information" about the game.

A good inside information makes a killing when used in the markets - you have to be ready to go to jail though :-).

Thebobpuller is right to suggest that numerous other legal techniques can gain much more valuable "inside information" about the game than CC.

and time, card counting will make money, I cannot deny that. However, in my experience you can get much better advantage with other tactics.

Also, the biggest weakness of card counting is, it is the only advantage technique that is extremely easy to get caught using.

Keep studying Blackjack, you know nothing yet!
