First of all, are wizardofodds.com basic strategy charts trustworthy? I have used that basic strategy where I can set my rules which are: 6 decks, S17, double after split, surrender 2 through 10 and no hole card. After I have used that for a while and learned counting cards and so on, I wanted to learn to deviate from basic strategy which is an essential part as an ap. For example that one says to split AA against A (wizardofodds.com tells me to hit) and double 11 against 10(wizardofodds.com tells me to hit) and I wonder what that depends on? I mean, the only rule that differs the two strategy charts is surrender which is not making any impact on the examples that the different strategies differs from.
Another thing I can't understand is, if you look at blackjack apprenticeship basic strategy deviation chart I linked above is when it says for example, 3+/6+ to split 99 against dealer's 7. I understand the other deviation indexes, obviously you should deviate when it exceeds the index number, but I don't understand the pair deviation where it's like 3+/6+ or 3+/4+. What are you meant to do different when you got 3+ from when you got 6+ then?
