6-5 Right or wrong?

A friend of mine saw me playing a 6-5 single deck game last year and went off on me. I was trying to explain, but he wouldn't SHUT UP!

After a few more rounds I finally quit and we went to go eat lunch. I had just won $2,000 at the table, but all he could keep saying was how bad the game was and that I was an idiot.

After claiming him down I explained it was the third time I had played that table (that day) and I walked away with $2,000 or more each time.

It was a VERY weak dealer and she was giving a very poor shuffle having just been demoted to the lower limit tables. I told my friend I wasn't being taken advantage of, but the other way around.

Do I think 6-5 is a good game? Are you crazy? But it was that day. Just pay attention and you can find a good situation at an unlikely place. This wasn't the first time I have come accross this situation.

There are out there almost everyday and if your lucky enough to find one take advantage of it 6-5 or not.

What if he wasn't seeing the hole card, could not track, but pen was say 85% .. would that change your mind?

If the pen was 100% wouldn't it still be mediocre to bad if you can't track the big cards?

No, he said she was giving a very poor shuffle. That could mean several things.

That's my question, to bigplayer or anyone else. It would seem like deep deep pen, alone, would make this 6:5 game beatable.

And Rick, you said this was months ago, a one day advantage. Was it something other than a deep pen?

Your title asked "6-5 Right or wrong?" Based on the information that you have provided, your friend is right and you are wrong.

You allude to other information that is relevant, but which you are unwilling to share. That information is useless in answering your question since we can only speculate on what it is.

If you are asking whether there is any set of circumstances that would make a 6:5 game playable, the answer is obviously yes. Having a dealer that frequently makes errors or flashes the hole card consistently would be some examples of this.

at single deck and deal deep enough you can beat a single deck game with even money payoffs. I know one guy who was eventually barred from Bob Stupak's Vegas World for beating the hell out of "Experto 21" (single deck dealt to the bottom paying even money).

Lets just say that had one of you seen what was going on that you would have been playing the 6-5 table also. So reading between the lines, yes I had an advantage, a big advantage.

How many times I itch to tell some of the great stuff, or at least, to hint at it. But after I write the post, and have the satisfaction of seeing the works, before I type "submit", I come to my senses and realize that such posts are pointless, and ultimately meaningless.

If you can find a 6-5 game that is beatable why not play it or any game for that matter. That is why I started this post to let players know that it is okay.

Of course if you can't make yourself play 6-5 even with an advantage then don't play it.

I had a hell of a run, most of which were on DD and a few shoe games. However I won over $6,000 on that single deck game. Now you could be like my friend who only played the good games and lost $500 (and he is a GOOD PLAYER) or know how to take advantage of a good situation on a bad game and win.

Like at the end of your post those who can do, well I did.

By the way I had dinner with Stanford (twice) that week and he agreed with me, the advantage I had was enough to justify playing the game.

The answer to the direction this thing has morphed into is .. of course, you play any game if and when you see some glaring advanatge .. which applies no more to 6:5 or than it does to lagging for quarters.

It seems like the OP is irritated with the tone of replies. However, the replies are entirely reasonable given his post. If I post saying that I won $2,000 playing double zero roulette and my friend thought I was an idiot, and I then ask whether I was right to play double zero roulette, the answers are going to be that I am an idiot. If I then defend myself by saying that I really had an advantage, but you'll have to trust me because it is soooo super-secret that I can't tell you, then I frankly just sound like a defensive idiot.

Repeated mention of the outcome from a short set of trials also makes the OP sound like a gambler, not an AP. The story would have exactly the same credence if he posted that he lost $2,000 in an hour playing 6:5.

OP - You are probably entirely correct that you had an advantage. I agree that you can get an advantage over any game offerred in the casino. That has been said numerous times on this board. I am just at a loss as to what you were trying to communicate with your original post.

What if you could see the dealers hole card every hand?

What if you could track the cards Very easy?

What if the dealer was miscounting and paying pushes and pushing loses?

What if the dealer was leting you DD after 2 or more cards?

What if the dealer was allowing surrender anytime, even after DD?

Now it is a 6-5 single deck, Not super-fun, just regular 6-5 single deck game.

Would you play that game?

the casino suspected you of being in on whatever the dealer was doing? she's about to be demoted to the streets, but not before she inacts a little revenge. count yourself lucky but if this person is intentionally doing this when they review it all I'm not sure I would want to be included on this tape.
