2 deck shoe shuffling

Are the 2 deck shoes at the MGM and other MGM properties shuffled by hand or do they use a card shuffling machine. Second question: If they are machine shuffled can the outcome be effected much with just two decks? I gave up on Blackjack a year or two ago. It was because I found out that the six deck shuffling machines have a built in card reader. The theory is that the card reader levels the decks creating more busts for the players. Why waste your money. Recently I was attracted back to Blackjack for fun. I am not a heavy duty player like probably most of you are. I get up a little or down a little and come in about even and see a couple of shows. I got waxed good at the Aquaris in Laughlin a couple of years ago playing 2 deck shoe with a shuffler. Brought me back to even quickly. Anyway your advice and wisdom would be appreciated

1) What do you mean by card shuffling machine? Automatic Shuffling Machine (ASM) or Coninuous Shuffling Machine (CSM)? ASM's just shuffle the cards when it's time for a re-shuffle and a CSM's continuously shuffles the cards as the game is in play. If you are counting cards, then the CSM is pretty much unbeatable. If you're a basic strategy player, then neither of those two things should concern you.

2) Where did you come up with your theory on card readers leveling shoes to bust players more? This theory is false and should be disregarded.

If you're just a basic strategy player, the only things you should seek out are games that pay 3:2 (not 6:5!) and favorable rules (re-split Aces, Double any two cards, Double after splitting, dealer stands on soft 17, late surrender, etc.). I chose not to list rules using their acronyms such as RSA, DOA, DAS, S17, LS, in case you aren't very savvy with such blackjack terminology. Now you know for future reference.

Card readers are only used to spot deck irregularities like missing cards or too many of a certain card. They aren't used to determine the shuffle and the program doesn't allow for that. Machine shuffles are essentially as random as a hand shuffle. For counters a machine shuffle is good as it is fast and you can get more hands/hr.
