Use Basic for almost everything
If you are playing a CSM game, you can't go far wrong if you stick to basic. If you want to make index plays, only make them when the count for that round indicates it is time for a departure. Don't keep a running count from round-to-round because it won't be accurate in a CSM. I can't advise you on the 14 v. 10 play because I am unclear about the exact rules. Normally, that would be a +3 play for late surrender and 0 for early surrender. While you aren't likely to see a +3 count in one round of play for shoe games, you might see a 0 count. If you do, then make the proper play. However, don't assume that basic strategy is designed for a count of 0. It is not.
However, I doubt if the difference between making index plays and basic strategy plays is enough to worry about if you are playing in a CSM game.
