UK lad - VEGAS - Basic Strat - Help

Hi Guys,
i'm on holiday in Vegas in November (2005) for 2 weeks. I've painfully memorised the Basic Strategy charts (6, 2, & 1 deck), and am preparing to start counting. I've got Fred Renzeys Bluebook II - a wonderful author, but i need to know - will i be cool enough in 1 month of training to sit in Vegas ?
Should i just play "fun" Blackjack with Basic Strat and leave counting till back home ?
Also - where are the best casinos for the likes of me ? Downtown ?
