I have a question as to whether or not I am playing with a positive expectation. I'm only a recreational counter and have no intention of ever playing professionally. I'm only interested in working just hard enough so I can play with a slight edge and am more interested in having a good time than making money.
I've got the basic strategy down for the most part and keep a chart in my pocket available for use when needed. I use the basic hi-low count and usually only spread 1-4 units (red) and I know when to take insurance and stand on a 16 vs. 10. I try to look for good single or double deck games but most of the time I will just be happy with a six deck shoe game with less than optimal conditions of DAS, hit soft 17, no re-split aces, no surrender, and penetration of 65% to 75%. I usually sit through bad counts as well and will only leave or sit out (if not too obvious) when the count is around -8 or worse.
So my question is...
With the six deck shoe and my limited counting abilities, is this a positive expectation game or not?
My next question is...
What would be your suggestion to improve my game without having to work too hard?
Like...
Side count of Aces - This may be more work than I would like.
Increasing spread - I wouldn't go higher than 1-6.
Learning Indices - I don't think I would want to learn 18 or more.
Wong out more - I don't like doing this but it's probably best.
Thanks for any information or suggestions.
