I am new to counting and began by reading Beat the Dealer. I'm now a bit more than halfway through The World's Greatest Blackjack Book by Drs. Humble and Cooper. I have learned basic strategy and am pretty proficient with counting using the Simple Point Count described in Dr. Thorp's book. I am going to switch to the Hi-Opt I and also count Aces.
My primary question was whether it is worth playing 6-deck games. In the second aforementioned book, they noted:
"Julian Braun estimated that to get a worthwhile advantage in a six-deck game with any powerful system the casino must deal out at least 4.5 decks, and your bet range must be at least 1 to 20 units per hand, a real eye-catcher with the pit bosses. The only possible approach to the six-deck game is to use team play and a very high-level professional system like the Hi-Opt II." (p. 63)
This led me to conclude that using Hi-Opt I and the counting of Aces would be insufficient to beat a six-deck game. Is that correct?
Thanks for the input,
Alex
