Playing one hand, or two - even three?

I have enjoyed playing hundreds and hundreds of hours of Black Jack in many casinos and 3 states over the past 2 years. I have gone up adn down. I am now getting serious and feel lost when thinking of whether PLAYING 1 HAND VS. THE DEALER OR PERHAPS 3 HANDS VS. THE DEALER carries any disadvantages/advantages. Can anyone comment on this? I prefer playing 1-3 people against one dealer, up to three hands total on the table no more. I find that most of my winnings occur when I play with just on other good player and at times either of us plays two hands to "fix" the cards as needed. Thank you!!
