No flux no bucks

I have hear ths saying before from different people. In BJ the only way to win significant money is to bet big when you have the advantage. Unfortunately as Don S. had mentnioned in BJA3eddition, the readon why card counters get killed is becuase when the count is high and you are playing max bets, you come into a string of losses at the high bet levels.

Is there any way to minimize the major fluctuations or is this just what a person has to endure in order to win money in the long run?

I was just curious.
