The index number for taking insurance on an 8-deck shoe is 3.1 for the hi-lo count. Wong says to just use 3 for multi-deck games, since it is not possibleto discern the TC within a tenth of a point. Schlesinger specifically says on p. 108 of "Blackjack Attack" not to do this, and to not take insurance if you estimate the count to be exactly 3. How do you guys deal with this issue? It seems the most logical thing to do is to take insurance if the count exceeds 3, as anything over 3 is probably 3.1 or greater...
Any thoughts?
