Fail Proof Non Card Counting Strategies

What's the deal with all these books out there that say you don't have to count to win and it's a waste of time. Are these authors just making a quick buck off of those who think counting is to hard to learn. Some of these people swear by it and I just can't see how you can have the same if not more of an advantage by not counting. What do you think?
