Bet Variation at a Casino Night

I belong to a club that is hosting a casino night. I won't know the table rules/conditions until I get there. It's a small fee and includes a nice meal and prizes. Some of the prizes could be quite good, such as golf, electronics, clothing. They give you some funny money to play with and at the end, you buy/bid on your prizes. Because, it's not my money and I'm trying to maximize a short term win, what type of bet variation is recommended? I assume minimum to table maximum, but at what count should I jump to table max?
