Backcounting using KO - Question

I have a question concerning a "backcounting" strategy I would like to adopt using KO for 8D shoes. I want to avoid backcounting 8D shoes which will probably never go positive by using "exit" markers for each deck delt (ie: If the RC is -28 or less after 2 decks are delt, go backcount another shoe). The KO book provides such a chart on p.120 but it is specifically for counters already playing on a table where exit markers are used to avoid negative counts. Can I use this same chart for my purpose ? Thanks.
