Thanks to those who have responded to my previous request for additional indices for AOII.
Well, I have run SBA indices generator and arrived at similar numbers as Bryce Carlson in Blackjack for Blood in most cases. However...
I am a little concerned though about large discrepancies in some of the indices, eg. A7 v 2 - I get 18, well above the "2" according to Bryce's calculations. Bryce makes specific mention of taking into account risk aversion, so I'm baffled by the substantial difference here as in a few other places. These kind of differences may also be present in the additional indices I'm looking for, but I've no way of comparing them with Bryce Carlson's, as these don't appear in his book.
A ran two 3 simulations of 1,000,000,000 hands on CVCX! using identical parameters except for the following:
Simulation 1: AOII with Ace side count using Bryce Carlson's indices.
Simulation 2: AOII with Ace side count, substituting SBA indices wherever there was an original AOII index.
Simulation 3: AOII with Ace side count, using original figures but adding in additional SBA indices where they were absent in the original.
The original simulation outperformed the SBA indices simulations. The DI (desirability index) was better, the action per hour was less, risk of ruin was marginally less and the win rate was slightly more, and significantly more than in simulation 3, which really surprised me. (I thought the addition of indices would improve the situation.)
This leads me to believe that the original indices must be superior. But I would still dearly love to know what the additional indices actually are, according to Bryce Carlson, for those big numbers. This would round off my knowledge of AOII indices nicely. I realise that the actual use of these additional indices is limited, but, having the knowledge of where the index lies in each of these extra cases may prove of benefit particularly in a tournament where aggressive play can be made with the knowledge of the risk involved.
The following indices in particular from Bryce Carlson are what I am after:
DD else Hit
7 v dealer's 4
7 v 5
7 v 6
DD else Stand
s19 v 2
s20 v 2
Stand else Hit (dealer stands on s17)
h13 v A
h14 v 7
h14 v 8
h14 v 9
Split else Stand (less than)
8,8 v 9
Split else Stand
10,10 v 2
9,9 v 9
These are all going to be indices where large bets are likely to be out.
Additional Late Surrender indices would be nice to have too.
So, if there is someone out there who can who can contact Bryce
Carlson on my behalf, I would be most grateful!!
There must be someone out there that has travelled this path before, surely.
Thanks, in eager, anticipation.
