2D vs 6D in LV

I'm heading to LV next week. From CBJN, it seems that the majority of 2D games are H17 with some also DAS, and mostly 50% pen (odd 60%). The 6D games seem to be H17,DAS,LS, 75-80% pen. (These are at $5 min tables)
I reckon the 2D games are theoretically better (I have run some sims), but I have never played in LV, so I'm not sure about how freely I can spread at 2D. Is a 1-8 spread, with the odd jump from 1 to 8 units acceptable these days, or would I be forced to ramp my bets more slowly. In the latter case, I feel I might have better success at 6D where I am sure I can easily spread 1-12 and even 1-15 in most places. Any thoughts ? Thanks.
