If you offer a player BJ advice and the next words out their mouth are Yeah, but...
You have just wasted your time. Case's in point.

In a BJ tournament where BJ's pay double, lady was taking even money.
Explained to her it was bad enough to do, at the table for 1 1/2, even worse with 2 to 1 payoff.

"Yeah, but...... I once moved on to the next round by $25 ( the min. bet) by doing it.

Casino offers even money when you have a BJ and they have a Face card.
The only thing worse than them offering it, was the guy who was taking it. I told him the odds were 12 to 1 against the dealer having a Ace under the face card.

Yeah, but.....I didn't take it a while ago and he had the Ace.

Hard to argue with logic like that.

One other thing I have noticed, when you reach a certin age everything you have, starts to wear out, fall out or spread out.

I think the last thing a counter should do at the tables is offer advice to other players. It is never wise to be seen as an "expert" on the game, especially by eavesdropping casino personnel.

As for taking even money in a tournament round, it might be the right thing to do if it assures you of being able to move on to the next round or taking an unassailable lead. If I was in the tournament and one of my opponents decided to take even money in a situation that was not to his or her advantage, I would say nothing at all and be thankful that this person made a dumb move that could help me out along the way.

If you are playing at a place that allows even money on a ten, hope that the ploppies take "advantage" of it. It's that much more money for you to win. :-)

I never give advice at the table. Did years ago and a guy got mad, when I told him he shouldn't hit his HARD 19. Both of these were away from the table and both were nice, but poorly informed players and I just couldn't help it.
