on Skip Hughes Video poker forum any non-VP post is preceeded by the poster placing XVP in the subject line before the subject. I'd like to suggest that we pick up the trend here and any post that has to do with non-blackjack material be preceeded with XBJ in the subject line.
The free board can be made to reflect many of the catagories that were previously available on the free pages through subject line codes. Just as you describe, you could put a two to four character code before the subject. We would require the administrator to place instructions at the top of the free page. This could allow for the addition of new sub catagories with a minimum of administration. The codes could go something like this:
Beginner Blackjack: BB
Blackjack Main: None
Vegas Blackjack: VBJ
Vegas Life: LVL
BJ East: EBJ
BJ West: WBJ
BJ South: SBJ
Non USA: INT
Internet BJ: NET
Video Poker: VP
Progressive: ASS
There would also be room for new catagories:
BJ Funny: BJHA
Non BJ Joke: HAHA
Geography: GEO
BJ Heat: HEAT
Administration: ADMN
It would allow for sub catagories to develop. These sub catagories would develop on their own and wouldn't need to be included in the directory at the top of the free page:
Non USA France: INT FRA
Video Poker Jacks or Better: VP JB
BJ South Biloxi: BJS BX

I think that there are possibilities to recapture some of the usefulness of the free boards through this method. Sure it is more work but we have lost a fair bit of administrative help when they took away the multi-page format. Will people do it? There will be some reluctance I'm sure, but there are a core group of people that influence the rest of the posters on this page. If they do it it will catch on. You know who you are.
Depending on how far the management and public wishes to go with this it could certainly work. I know a little HTML (very little) and it wouldn't take much to make this a required pull down menu to the left of the Subject field. A postbuster type user could be given authority to add the subject code when missed. Gentle reminders could be given when people miss the subject code. I envision twenty or thirty main catagories developing over time.

I'd still rather have the separate boards back. I suspect this will happen in time.
I must admit that every thing on one page will make things a little
crowded & hodge podge. There were several pages that I posted
infrequently on; and I could not wonder if I wasn't perhaps missing
a piece or tid bit that would complete a puzzel or fill in a picture.
I still look for answers, known or unknown, that will provide an edge
for the player in any game. I have already experienced two such
surprises. One was from players that made me want to choke them, and
then, aha what is this that sparkles in the crap ? Surprise, Suprise !
