Ten-Count is the oldest blackjack card counting system. It was first introduced to the world in 1962 by Edward O. Thorp – the legend who shocked the gambling world with his famed “Beat the Dealer” publication. Many versions of Ten-Count have become known since, the latest being Foret Lanyang's X-Count.
Regardless of its stripe, each Ten-Count system shares the same distinction of having a 100%-perfect Insurance Correlation (“IC”). Ten-Count’s combined BC+PE+IC is an impressive 0.72 +0.61+1.00 = 2.33, while the well-known Hi-Lo counting system can only boast a 0.97+0.51+0.76 = 2.24 for its BC+PE+IC.
In spite of its famed lineage and superiority in BC+PE+IC, Ten-Count, however, has fallen far, far behind Hi-Lo in usage. One may wonder: “Why”? With the prior versions of Ten-Count, one can attribute the lack of use to their general difficulties in execution. They all require counters to count every card - a task more suited for robots, not for fun-seeking casino goers. But with Foret Lanyang X-Count, counters actually need to count 16 cards per deck only – less than Hi-Lo’s 40 cards per deck. (See the table below.)
Moraine says: 'Just give it a try. You may find the easiest counting "job" in casino like never before. Card counting or not, going to casino is for fun. Don't settle for anything less.'
